What Wedbox is
Wedbox (wedbox.com) is a Scandinavian wedding photo app, sold by Wedsly Group AB, that has been collecting guest photos since 2016 and claims more than a million downloads across 18 languages. The guest side is genuinely light: scan the QR code or type the wedding code, and photos and videos upload from the browser with no app and no account. Around that sit a photographer upload link, a phone-as-photo-booth mode with props, a live slideshow for the reception screen, and likes and comments.
The business model is the part to read before the wedding. Uploading is free and, per Wedbox, unlimited; getting the album back is not. The App Store sells a “single download” at $23.99, a $44.99 premium package, $0.99 single-photo downloads and an $11.49 yearly hosting subscription, and wedbox.com says photos are stored free for two months after the wedding and $2.50 a month after that. The most recent one-star reviews on the UK and US stores describe the same two failures: paying for the download and the zip link never arriving, and guests at the reception unable to upload at all - followed by weeks or months without a reply from support.
PartyCam starts from the other end. The capture is the product - a film camera that opens from the QR in the browser, with a shot roll and a reveal - and the album is paid for once, per event, with original-resolution downloads and no hosting clock.
