PartyCam vs Once

Once nails the disposable-camera idea on iPhone. PartyCam runs the same idea on every phone — with an Android app, guest video, a 10-guest free tier, and 24/7 support behind the reveal.

What Once is
Once (once.film — not once.app, which is an unrelated music service) is the newest serious take on the digital disposable camera: a polished iOS app from indie studio 10xCompany, launched in late 2025 and growing fast. It shares PartyCam's core beliefs — guests shoot through a real camera with a film feel, the host sets the shot count, photos unlock together at a reveal time, and you pay once per event. It adds a lovely voice guestbook, and guests can shoot from the mobile web or an App Clip without installing anything.
The gaps are equally concrete. There is no Android app — their own FAQ says it's still in development, and Android hosts are pointed at a web app behind an Apple or Google sign-in. There's no guest video anywhere in the product. The free tier covers five guests, unlimited shots is a $9.99 add-on, exports carry a timestamp watermark unless you find the setting, and guests who want to keep their own photos afterwards must create an account. Most seriously for a wedding product, its recurring one-star story is photos going missing at the reveal — guests who shot twenty frames finding seven in the album.
PartyCam is the same disposable-camera soul with the platform question already solved: the camera opens in the browser on iPhone and Android alike with no account at any point, video clips come via the free app on both platforms, the roll is a setting rather than an add-on, downloads are originals with no watermark — and support answers around the clock.

Where PartyCam wins
Half your guest list uses Android
Once has no Android app — their FAQ says it's in development — and Android hosts get a web dashboard behind an Apple or Google sign-in. PartyCam treats both platforms the same: browser camera for guests, native apps for both, no sign-in anywhere.
Video is part of the night
Once is photos and voice notes only. PartyCam guests record 1-minute video clips in the free app — the speeches and the dance floor land in the same album as the film shots.
No account to keep your own photos
Once guests must create an account after the event to keep or download what they shot. PartyCam guests get the album by link — shooting anonymously in the browser never turns into a sign-up form later.
Clean originals by default
Once stamps a timestamp watermark on exports unless the host finds the toggle — a detail that cost them at least one customer in their own reviews. PartyCam downloads are original resolution with no watermark, ever.
The roll is a setting, not a surcharge
Removing Once's shot cap is a $9.99 add-on. PartyCam hosts pick each guest's shot count while creating the event, at no charge, on every tier including free.
A free tier you can rehearse on
Once's free film covers 5 guests; PartyCam's covers 10 with every feature. Run your actual QR-on-the-table flow before the wedding without paying either vendor.
Where Once makes sense
No tool wins every event. Pick Once over PartyCam if these matter more to you:
- Tiny events are cheaper there — $1.99 covers 10 guests and $4.99 covers 25, under PartyCam's $14.99 entry tier, and $99.99 buys unlimited participants.
- The voice guestbook is genuinely lovely — guests leave audio messages from the same QR, and an automatic recap video arrives after the event.
- You're an all-iPhone crowd and want their premium, editorial aesthetic end to end.
- Like PartyCam — and almost nobody else in the category — they claim storage that never expires.
- Brands can buy a custom business tier with logo, moderation dashboard, consent flows, and lead collection.
What their users report
Recurring themes from public Once reviews, paraphrased and attributed — read the originals before you decide.
Photos missing at the reveal
The recurring one-star story: guests shot a full roll and the reveal produced a fraction of it — twenty frames becoming seven, half a bachelorette lost. For a product whose whole promise is the reveal moment, this is the risk to weigh.
App Store reviews (US, UK, CA), 2026
Slow opens and forced re-logins
Reviewers describe the app taking long seconds to open mid-party and repeatedly signing them out — one calling it unusable on the night. The camera also needs a connection; there's no offline capture, and some found the shutter slow enough to miss moments.
App Store reviews, 2026
The meter starts at guest six
Several reviews push back on paying from the sixth guest and on the watermark defaulting on — one host switched apps over it. Minor frictions, but they sit exactly where a host forms their first impression.

What each costs
Once prices by participant cap, one-time: free for 5, then $1.99 (10), $4.99 (25), $14.99 (50), $29.99 (100), $49.99 (150), $69.99 (200), and $99.99 for unlimited. Unlimited shots per guest is a $9.99 add-on, adding 50 participants mid-event is $19.99, and refunds apply only if no photo was taken. Business plans are custom quotes.
PartyCam: free up to 10 guests, then one-time $14.99 (50), $34.99 (100), $64.99 (175), $89.99 (250), $149.99 (500). Every tier includes the film camera on both platforms, any roll size, video clips, moderation, unwatermarked originals, and 24/7 support.
Once genuinely undercuts us at several rungs — $29.99 at 100 guests against our $34.99, and $99.99 for unlimited. What the sticker doesn't show: Android guests relying on the web flow, no video at any price, the shot-cap add-on, and a reveal their own reviewers don't fully trust. The five dollars buys the part that has to work.
PartyCam prices are one-time, in USD. Sales tax is calculated at checkout where applicable. Once prices per their public pricing page, August 28, 2026.
The bottom line
Once is the competitor we'd most likely recommend to an all-iPhone dinner party — same disposable-camera convictions, beautiful execution, honest one-time pricing, and cheaper small tiers. But a wedding guest list runs on both platforms, wants video, and gets exactly one take at the reveal — the places where Once is respectively absent, absent, and shakiest in its own reviews. PartyCam is the same idea built for every phone in the room, with humans on call while the night is happening.
